Modern country garden – Billingshurst, West Sussex

The large converted barn with perpendicular garage created a natural courtyard which we kept simple while reflecting the Modern interior. Facing the house, we designed a stunning Modern gazebo with fireplace, open to the elements, and wrapped in hardwood to match the slatted wall. Once we had cleared the overgrown planting, fantastic views across the Downs opened up; and we exploited these with carefully positioned perimeter trees and low herbaceous borders that helped sit this new garden into the rural surroundings.
